Teresa De Ford

Teresa earned a degree in Political Philosophy from Michigan State University in 1990, with a minor in Criminal Justice. This academic foundation led to an internship and ultimately a career as an Intelligence Research Specialist with the Drug Enforcement Administration. During Teresa’s tenure at the DEA, they served in the agency’s Washington, D.C. headquarters as well as field offices in San Francisco and Houston.

In 1992, Teresa began legal studies at the University of Houston Law Center and obtained a Juris Doctorate in 1995. After graduation, Teresa entered the field of civil litigation, with a focus on oil and gas trucking and oilfield injury litigation. However, a life-altering event—the tragic loss of a close friend’s spouse—sparked a shift in perspective. Moved by a desire to provide direct support to individuals during life’s most pivotal moments, Teresa transitioned their legal practice to family law, estate planning, and probate.

In 2012, Teresa founded De Ford Law Firm with the vision of serving the community by educating and empowering individuals through every stage of life—whether joyful milestones such as adoption, or challenging transitions like divorce or the loss of a loved one. The firm is committed to delivering high-quality legal services that leave clients feeling informed, supported, and confident about their future.

Outside the office, Teresa enjoys life in The Woodlands, Texas, with their husband, two sons—Evan and Austin—and their three golden retrievers. Family time often includes exploring the local community and enjoying the many activities the area has to offer.
