While attending the University of Houston, Hammad discovered a passion for advocacy and a desire to be a voice for those who feel unheard. That passion ultimately led him to a career in law.
In 2017, Hammad earned his Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He initially practiced immigration law, where he worked with individuals and families facing deeply personal legal challenges.
Over time, Hammad was naturally drawn to family law. He felt called to support clients navigating some of the most emotionally difficult moments of their lives — including divorce, custody disputes, and family transitions that require both compassion and strategy.

Hammad joined DeFord Law Firm in January 2021 and currently serves as a Senior Associate Attorney. He is deeply committed to advocating for people who have been silenced, mistreated, or made to feel powerless in their marriages.
For Hammad, family is a foundational value. He understands that divorce does not affect only one person — it can impact children, finances, routines, emotional stability, and the future a client is trying to rebuild.
His approach is compassionate and strategic. He works to help clients understand their options, protect what matters most, and move toward the best possible outcome for themselves and their children.
What Drives His Work
The most rewarding part of Hammad’s work is helping clients reclaim their voice.
Many people come to family law feeling overwhelmed, unheard, or unsure of what they are allowed to ask for. Hammad’s goal is to help them move from uncertainty to clarity — and from fear to informed decision-making.
