MODIFYING YOUR CHILD SUPPORT

In certain circumstances, you may be eligible for a modification to your child support case. These orders can be changed either through a court hearing or by the Child Support Review Process (CSRP). The latter can be a faster option for situations where both parents agree to the support amount.

The amount of child support you pay may be modified if you meet one of the following guidelines:

  • If it’s been at least three since your child support order or modification AND the monthly amount ordered is either 20% or $100 different from the amount that would be awarded via child support guidelines.
  • A substantial change in circumstances has arisen since the last child support order was established or modified.

Modifications to child support can be a complicated process. There are many rules and regulations that apply in order to fit the best needs of the child involved. Our family law attorneys have been handling child support cases for almost 20 years and can help you reach a resolution that fits your new situation. Get in touch with our team for more information.
